On my last trip to Brazil, I visited a table tennis centre in a poor suburb of São Paulo. The place was simple, but the energy was unreal — players giving their all with whatever gear they had. Most were using old, second-hand rubbers and blades, some nearly falling apart.
Before leaving Sydney, I packed a few rubbers that I asked some people to. Some were still totally playable, so I handed them out. You should’ve seen their faces — for many of them, even paying the entry fee is a challenge. Getting a decent rubber, even used, was like winning the lottery. The happiness and gratitude were just amazing.
So now I’ve got a mission:
💡 Let’s collect used table tennis gear and give it a second life!
If you’ve upgraded your rubber, changed your blade, or got shoes you don’t use anymore — don’t let them sit in a drawer! Someone out there could really use them.
I’ll take everything with me next time I go to Brazil and make sure it gets to clubs and players who need it.
🙌 Want to help?
Just send me a message, and I’ll figure out how to collect it. You can also share this with anyone who might want to donate!
Let’s spread the love (and the gear) — and help others keep playing the sport we all enjoy! 💙
