Code of Conduct

Payment and Arrival:
  • Please make the payment as soon as you come to the club. Let’s create the habit of paying (cash or online) upon arrival and before starting to play. Also, write your name on the book.
  • Whether you arrive at 9 and play for an hour or come at 7:30 and leave at 8:30, the payment is still required. If you are unable to pay, please inform Paulo or Joe.
Efficient Use of Time:
  • Limit warm-up sessions and avoid extended breaks between matches.
  • Rest for three minutes after finishing your match before considering playing another game, allowing others the opportunity to play. You will have the opportunity to play with your favourite players if that is the case.
  • When the club is full, please refrain from moving between tables or matches; ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to play and respect the waiting time for each individual.
Consideration for Waiting Players:
  • If the club is full and 10 people are waiting without a table, please consider playing doubles to give everyone a chance to play.
Respectful and Inclusive Behavior:
  • Feel free to participate in conversations, but refrain from harassing anyone or imposing your views. Treat each person with respect, acknowledging their uniqueness. Regardless of background, personal beliefs, political affiliations, religious views, or opinions on social issues, including sexual orientation and economic status or any other matters. Let’s concentrate on enjoying the game, fostering positive conversations, and appreciating the diversity and individuality of each participant.
  • Move to another part of the hall if necessary to avoid escalating the argument further. We are all here to play table tennis and have fun.
  • Let’s promote a positive and supportive atmosphere among players.
Assist Beginners:
  • Support beginners in their skill development.
  • Dedicate around 15 minutes to help players with lower skill levels improve their game.
Positive Gestures and Sportsmanship:
  • Show positive gestures during points; avoid throwing bats, shouting, or using inappropriate language even in your language.
  • Maintain composure and avoid losing your temper during matches.
  • Treat opponents and yourself with respect; play fairly without insults, cheating, or aggression.
  • Respect decisions made by officials, referees, coaches, and administrators, even if you disagree with their decisions.
  • Be courteous by picking up balls from other tables or your own when they are close to you. Don’t wait for other people to do that.
Personal Hygiene and Cleanliness:
  • Bring a towel, especially if you sweat heavily.
  • Check and clean tables (or floor) when changing sides or leaving the table; utilize clothes and table cleaner from the storage room.
  • Take the initiative to keep the playing area tidy and organized.
  • Keep the storage room tidy by organizing nets in the trolley and placing scoreboards and clipboards in the box.
Post-Match Etiquette:
  • Salute opponents after each match through a fist bump, handshake, or compliment.
  • If you lose the match avoid comments like: “I am tired”, “my body sore”, “I didn’t play well”. Acknowledge your opponent’s efforts.
  • Avoid gloating or displaying poor sportsmanship after a victory. Discuss the match in a friendly manner, regardless of the outcome.
Health and Safety:
  • If you don’t feel well and are coughing or sneezing, please refrain from coming to the hall to avoid infections.
Responsibility for Equipment and Setup:
  • Before leaving the hall, check if tables need to be returned to the storage room, especially if the hall is not crowded.
  • Start packing equipment and tidying up around 10:20 to ensure a smooth conclusion to the session.

Robot:
Schedule Usage:
  • Assess the club’s occupancy before using the robot.
  • If all tables are in use, prioritize playing with other players rather than the robot. If the club gets busy and all tables are occupied, consider stopping robot usage and returning it to the storage room.
Fair Usage:
  • Avoid monopolizing the robot, especially during peak hours.
  • Limit your session to 10 minutes using a mobile timer to ensure fair access for everyone.
  • Allow a 3-minute break before your next session. If no one else is waiting, you can continue practising.
Safe Settings:
  • Refrain from setting the robot to shoot balls at an excessively high speed.
  • Use the green barrier if available to prevent balls from causing safety concerns or disturbances at neighbouring tables.
Post-Training Responsibilities:
  • After completing your training, ensure all balls are placed back into the robot.
  • Do not leave this task for the next person; take responsibility for tidying up after yourself.
Last User Responsibility:
  • If you are the last person to use the robot, remove it from the table and return it to the storage room. Leave the playing area in an organized and ready-to-use condition for the next players.
