Forestville Table Tennis Club

At Forestville Table Tennis, the safety and protection of our members, volunteers, and committee are extremely important to us.

As an affiliated club of Table Tennis NSW and Table Tennis Australia, our activities are covered under the Table Tennis Australia National Insurance Program, arranged through Gallagher Sport.

This page explains how the insurance works and why registration is essential.

Who Is Covered?

The National Insurance Program provides cover to:

• Registered members of Table Tennis Australia
• Affiliated State and Club entities
• Directors, committee members, office bearers
• Coaches, officials and volunteers acting on behalf of the club

Cover applies to sanctioned table tennis activities, including:

• Official competitions
• Training sessions
• Club activities approved by Table Tennis Australia

What Insurance Covers

The program includes several types of protection:

1️⃣ Personal Accident Insurance

Provides financial assistance if a registered member sustains an injury during sanctioned activities

Key benefits include:

• Lump sum payments for permanent injuries
• Non-Medicare medical expenses reimbursement
• Weekly loss of income payments

Important note:
The Health Insurance Act 1973 (Cth) prevents insurers from covering Medicare benefits (“Medicare gap”) 

This insurance is not comprehensive and is designed to complement private health or personal insurance.

2️⃣ Public Liability Insurance

Protects if the club or its officials are accused of negligence and legal action arises.

Current limit:
$20,000,000 any one occurrence

3️⃣ Professional Indemnity Insurance

Protects coaches and officials against claims arising from alleged negligent acts, errors or omissions.

4️⃣ Management Liability Insurance

Provides protection for:

• Committee members
• Directors
• Office holders

For claims that may arise internally or externally while performing official duties.

Why Registration Is Required

Only registered members are covered under this National Insurance Program.

If you are not registered:

• You are not covered by the Personal Accident policy.
• You are not covered under the club’s sanctioned insurance protection.
• You must rely on your own personal insurance arrangements.

As an affiliated club, we are required to follow the guidelines of Table Tennis NSW and Table Tennis Australia.
We cannot include unregistered participants in sanctioned competition or activities.

This protects:

• You
• Other players
• Our volunteers
• Our committee members

Scroll to the bottom of the page and choose:

• Returning Member (if you have registered before), or
• New Member (if this is your first time registering).
• When selecting your club, choose Forestville. You will then see different membership options:
• If you are not playing any official competitions, select Club Play. The cost is $27 for the whole year.
• If you are playing competitions, please speak with me first. Depending on the level of competition you are entering (local, state, or national), the membership category and fee will vary.
• If you have any questions about which option to select, please contact me, and I’ll guide you through it.

Duty of Care & Club Responsibilities

Forestville Table Tennis Club has a duty of care to provide a safe environment for participants.

The club also maintains:

• Combined Liability Insurance
• Player Accident Insurance
• Safeguarding Protection 

However, these policies operate within strict conditions and definitions.
Registration ensures that you are included within the protection framework.

How to Make a Personal Accident Claim

If you are injured during sanctioned activities:

1. Obtain a claim form from Sportscover

2. Have your doctor complete the relevant section

3. Have your club official complete their section

4. Submit to Sportscover within 30 days
